Solar Powered Attic Fan

by admin on May 23, 2011

Ok, I don’t know about you guys, but I have always been frustrated by the fact that my electricity bill sometimes doubles during the days of sweltering heat that we get here in summer. And I’m not talking just about Southern states – many times I hear my friends from Chicago complaining about 90-degree heat in summer.

So I went ahead and did some research…And I bought a solar powered fan to cool off my home so that my air conditioner does not have to work that hard! The fan works awesome – instead of letting the heat build up in my attic area, it turns the energy of the sun into a working fan that pulls the hot air out of the area.

This solar powered fan is able to ventilate up to 1200 square feet, uses solar light to operate. It comes on when the sun is up and shuts off when the sunlight no longer reaches the panel. It must be facing to the West or South for best sun exposure.

I still give myself props for the smart investment I have made – with free intense solar energy during the summer I save tons of money and my electricity bill is not soaring any more. And it is not just the question about saving money – it is about making our home a more environmentally friendly place and just living a smarter life.
